Monhegan Trail Aglow

I painted this in my studio from a photo I took while on Monhegan Island, Maine in late September. Because it was a misty day, we couldn't paint. So, my artist friend and I hiked through the island's forest on Cathedral Trail only to find the fern and other foliage simply "aglow". I captured the brilliant golds that backlit the trees. They became my focal point. Bright light danced here and there throughout the scene.

This acrylic piece measures 10"x10" and is done in an expressive, modern style with varied brushstrokes.
