Palm Shadows

This scene is in Largo, Florida. I was attracted by the design on the wall made by the palm shadows. What great contrast! The sun was brilliant that day, and I remember feeling the ache in my eyes due to the intense glare coming off the wall. The color of the stucco looked washed out, even though it was truly a salmon color.

I also like inserting the signs of man - the car, bicycle, and trash can - into my art. They not only create interesting shapes, but they get you thinking about who these people are and where they come from. Just another small piece to add to the narrative.

I painted this piece a second time in acrylic and used a texture technique that "veils" the glazed layers. It measures 10"x10".
