Holmes Hollow Tree Farm- Dec 2009

These two barns sit side by side on the property of Holmes Hollow Tree Farm in Perinton, NY. It is where I buy my Christmas trees. The owners are kind enough to allow our plein air painters to paint there. It had just snowed the night before. The ground was covered with about three inches of clean, sparkling white. The sky was gray, but little bits of sunshine peeked through onto the roof and side of the barns. The hill in the background showed the evergreens ready for harvest. Some were in shadow; some in light.
I love this piece! I think my colors are very pleasing and I captured the movement of the land with my brushstrokes.

  1. Hi Brenda,

Very nice paintings on your blog! My personal favorite is "concrest house"..with the green building and the tree in the background. I also like the Dead Oak and cow painting. See you soon,
