When I moved into my current home ten years ago, I watched this doe pass by in my yard each day. She was limping. Her right front hoof was all bloodied. Eventually, that hoof dried up and actually fell off. She has been managing all these years without her right foot. Her posture has completed changed and she requires to bend down very low to eat because of this handicap.Each fall, she is pursued by the bucks and each spring she gives birth to one (or two, I'm not sure) little Bambies!
Although I hate all the damage to my plants and foliage these deer cause, I have been watching (and secretly cheering for) her success.
I finally painted her from the MANY photos I have taken of her. She is quite a beauty!!
