The Red House: Monhegan Island, ME

I'm back from my winter vacation in Florida! What a warm winter...record breaking. I lived in shorts and sandals from the beginning of January till April. Now.........some new paintings:
I painted this piece in January from a photo I took of "The Red House" on Monhegan Island, Maine last year. The small boat was positioned in just the right spot for a ready made composition. The rocks show lots of color and value shifts not really noticeable on this blog.

This piece measures 18"x18" and I painted it in acrylic.

Jamie Wyeth's, Monhegan Island

My trip to Monhegan Island in September was great fun, mainly because of the very nice artists I got to hang out with. Witty and kind!

We lugged our gear through gravel roads and down narrow, muddy paths to get down to the water's edge just to paint this famous artist's house...Jamie Wyeth. The day was just lovely......but I was attacked by a swarm of horseflies that eventually cut my paintout short! Ouch!

I painted this piece in oil and it measures 10"x10".
