Black Head, Monhegan Island

On this day on Monhegan Island, the mist controlled our activities. No painting allowed. So, my artist pal and I hiked through the island's dense forest by way of Cathedral Trail to Black Head. There, we came upon this scene... full of mist and fog with crashing waves onto the huge rocks. This lone pine tree, not more than six feet tall grew out of a crack in the rock. This was my photo and my composition for painting!

I painted this in acrylic using a veiling technique, and it measures 8"x8".
