Alongside the Erie Canal in Fairport, is a bike path. A few artists and I walked along that path to find something to paint. We came upon this garden that was mostly shadowed by the large hanging branches of an evergreen tree. But, behind it, about ten feet in, the light was brilliant on this small bed of irises. So bright, it almost washed out all color of the grass and flowers.
I believe I captured that brilliance through my placing high contrasts of the very dark against the very light.
This piece shows lots of movement and texture. It measures 10"x10" and I painted it in oil.
