The weather changed by the minute. Blue sky, sunny and warm, then billowy clouds filled with dark grays. I was chasing a new painting every few minutes, so although I had fun doing this piece, it seemed that I could have painted a dozen different versions because of the weather.

Artist Caught on Canvas
This scene shows another plein air artist at her easel while we were painting next to a cottage on Lake Ontario for the Kenn Backhaus workshop. She was standing in front of me painting her composition. Her posture and straw hat just caught me eye. I had to paint her!
The weather changed by the minute. Blue sky, sunny and warm, then billowy clouds filled with dark grays. I was chasing a new painting every few minutes, so although I had fun doing this piece, it seemed that I could have painted a dozen different versions because of the weather.
